Custom 3D Figurine from Photo: Free 3D Preview, Refined by an Artist

Classic realism custom figurine: a man's photo beside the matching 3D-printed figurine of him in a navy blazer and chinos on a round black base

Want a custom 3D figurine from a photo of yourself, someone you love, your pet or your tabletop character? All it takes is one photo. Upload it at mythumi.com and our creator turns it into a free 3D preview of your figurine, usually in under 100 seconds, which you can turn around and check from every side before you pay anything. Once you order, one of our artists refines the digital 3D model, and your figurine is 3D printed in full colour, inspected by hand and shipped to your door.

You may have seen the AI figurine trend: in September 2025, people used Google's Gemini image tool, nicknamed Nano Banana, to turn their selfies into pictures of themselves as collectible figurines (Decrypt). Those figurines only exist as images. Here you get a real one you can hold.

This guide brings it all together: how it works, what you can make, the styles, sizes and finishes on offer, what it costs, and how to get a figurine that really looks like them.

How to make a 3D figurine from a photo online

  1. Upload one photo. A single clear picture of a person or a pet, or character art for a tabletop miniature, is all the creator needs.
  2. Choose a style or a pose. Use the note box for anything you want us to keep, such as a favourite outfit or a white patch on a paw.
  3. Check your free 3D preview. It is usually ready in under 100 seconds. Turn it around and look at it from every side. Generating it costs nothing, and nothing is charged until you add your piece to the cart. Not happy with it? Try another photo.
  4. Pick your size and finish, then order.
  5. An artist refines your model. Before anything is printed, one of our artists refines the digital 3D model based on your preview so it is ready to print. It is included in every order.
  6. Printed, inspected and shipped. Your figurine is 3D printed, inspected by hand and shipped to Canada, the United States or the European Union, with free standard shipping on orders of US$99 or more.

Why the artist step? Generating 3D models has been a research problem in computer graphics for decades, and AI has moved it forward quickly in recent years (Li et al., 2024). Even so, a model built from one flat photo has to fill in what the camera could not see, such as the back of a head or the far side of a pet. An artist refining the model before it is printed is what turns a good preview into a figurine that is ready to print. Our guide From Photo to Figurine walks through every step, from preview to unboxing.

What can you turn into a figurine?

A figurine of yourself: Mini Me and pop-style figurines

Classic realism figurine of a woman holding a bouquet, standing on a desk beside the framed photo it was made from
A classic realism Mini Me beside the photo it was made from.

The custom Mini Me figurine turns a photo of you, a friend or a family member into a figurine in the style you choose. You can add a display base: a marble or brown square base, or a round black one. It comes as a full-colour print in 6, 8, 10 or 15 cm, or Artist Hand-Finished from 15 to 30 cm.

Our pop-style figurine turns a photo of you, a friend or a loved one into a pop-style piece, full-colour printed in 6, 8 or 10 cm. Want two people in one piece? Start from one of our couple and family templates.

Custom pet figurines of dogs, cats and other pets

One pet photo, one full-colour figurine.

The custom pet figurine works for dogs, cats and other pets. You upload one photo and choose the pose separately in the creator, from sitting and standing to a play bow or curled up, so the photo only needs to show your pet clearly. You then review a free 2D likeness and 3D preview. Sizes run from 6 to 30 cm, as a full-colour print or Artist Hand-Finished.

As a pet memorial. When a pet dies, the grief can be as deep as for a person. Researchers call keeping a connection with a pet who has died a "continuing bond", and a review of the research found that these bonds can be a valuable source of support for some owners, while for others they can make grief feel more intense (Hughes and Lewis Harkin, Omega). There is no right way to remember them. If a figurine feels right for you, a larger size gives every marking room to show.

Custom D&D and TTRPG miniatures from your character art

A custom TTRPG miniature of your D&D character or original character doesn't need a photo at all. Upload concept art, a screenshot from a character builder or a sketch, and add a few notes about your character. Pick one of six preset poses, from a neutral stance to spellcasting, so the whole party can share one style. Miniatures are full-colour prints on a round base, in six sizes: 4 cm (1.5 in) fits a standard 1-inch battle grid, 5 cm (1.97 in) is a bigger tabletop hero, and 6, 7, 8 and 10 cm are display pieces for heroes and bosses.

Styles to choose from

A realistic likeness is only one option. Our templates add more looks to start from:

Full-colour print or Artist Hand-Finished?

  • Full-colour print: the colour is part of the 3D print itself. Mini Me and pet figurines come in 6, 8, 10 and 15 cm, and every pop-style figurine and TTRPG miniature is a full-colour print.
  • Artist Hand-Finished: printed in white resin and then painted by our artists. Available for Mini Me figurines in 15, 18, 20, 25 and 30 cm, and for pet figurines in 8, 10, 15, 18, 20, 25 and 30 cm.

Whichever finish you choose, artist refinement of the digital model is included in the price. Hand-finished means hand-painted; it doesn't mean the figurine is sculpted entirely by hand.

Which size should you choose?

  • For a desk, a bookshelf or a small gift: 6 or 8 cm (2.36 or 3.15 in).
  • For a shelf, a mantel or a memorial: a larger size gives fine details and markings more room.
  • For the game table: 4 or 5 cm for play, and the larger sizes for display.

Every size is measured on the longest side, display base not counted: usually the height for a standing figure, the length for a lying pet and the width for a wide pose. Our size guide explains how we measure, shows every size next to a coin and gives easy ways to picture it at home.

How much does a custom figurine cost?

  • TTRPG miniature: US$39.99 (4 cm) to US$169.99 (10 cm)
  • Pop-style figurine: US$79.99 (6 cm) to US$199.99 (10 cm)
  • Mini Me figurine: US$79.99 to US$449 for a full-colour print (6 to 15 cm), and US$299.99 to US$599.99 Artist Hand-Finished (15 to 30 cm). The base doesn't change the price.
  • Pet figurine: US$79.99 to US$449 for a full-colour print (6 to 15 cm), and US$199.99 to US$599.99 Artist Hand-Finished (8 to 30 cm)

Prices are correct at the time of writing. Each product page shows the current price for every size and finish, and the 3D preview is always free.

How to get a figurine that looks like them

The photo you upload is what the preview is built from, so a few minutes choosing it pays off:

  • One clear subject, with a sharp, well-lit face. Crop out other people and busy backgrounds.
  • The original file, without filters. Screenshots, forwarded pictures and beauty filters lose or change detail. The creator takes JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB.
  • For pets, get down to their level and keep their markings easy to see.

Our full photo guide covers people, pets and character art in detail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see my figurine before I pay?

Yes. Upload a photo at mythumi.com and your 3D preview is usually ready in under 100 seconds. Generating a preview is free, and nothing is charged until you add your piece to the cart. Previews are AI-generated and approximate: they show the style, pose and overall look we will work from, and the finished print can differ a little in likeness, colour and fine detail.

How long does it take?

Every piece is made to order and takes about 7 to 10 business days to make, counted from the day you order. Standard shipping then takes about 5 to 12 business days to the United States and 10 to 25 business days to Canada or the European Union; Express takes 3 to 7 business days. Do you ship to Canada, the US and Europe?

Yes. MYTHUMI is a Canadian company, and we ship to Canada, the United States and the European Union. Orders are produced in China and ship from there directly to you. Standard shipping is free on orders of US$99 or more, and Express shipping is available at checkout.

What if my figurine arrives damaged?

Email us within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the figurine and the packaging, and you can choose a free remake or a refund. See our refund policy.
