Custom Miniatures for TTRPGs: Turn Your Character Art into a DnD Mini

The character you have played for years deserves more than a token or a borrowed figure. With MYTHUMI, a custom TTRPG miniature from your character art puts them on the table as you imagine them: upload concept art, a screenshot from a character builder or a sketch to the MYTHUMI creator, add a few notes, and see a free 3D preview, usually in under 100 seconds. The MYTHUMI Tabletop Mini is 4 cm (1.5 in) on its longest side, made to fit a standard 1-inch battle grid, and printed in full colour so it is ready to play the moment it arrives.

Here is how it works, what size to choose, and how to bring the whole party, and their enemies, to the table.

How to turn character art into a miniature with MYTHUMI

  1. Upload your art. Concept art, a screenshot from a character builder or a game, or a quick sketch all work.
  2. Choose a pose. There are six presets, from a neutral stance to spellcasting, so every hero in the party can share one style.
  3. Add the details the art doesn't show. Use the instructions box for species, class, armour, weapons and colours.
  4. Check your free 3D preview. Turn it around and look at the face, outfit, weapons and gear from every side. It is usually ready in under 100 seconds, generating it costs nothing, and nothing is charged until you add your miniature to the cart.
  5. Pick a size and order. 4 cm or 5 cm for play, or 6, 7, 8 or 10 cm for display.
  6. An artist refines the model. Before printing, a MYTHUMI artist refines the digital 3D model based on your preview. It is included with every miniature.
  7. Printed in full colour and shipped. Your miniature is printed on a round base, inspected by hand and shipped to Canada, the United States or the European Union.

Examples from the MYTHUMI creator

These three were made on mythumi.com: a warrior in a bird-skull mask with a curved blade, a tusked, red-bearded orc and a hooded skeleton reaper with a scythe, each on a mossy round base. This is what your free 3D preview looks like: you can turn it around and check the face, outfit and weapons from every side before you order. Any of them can be printed in full colour at 4 cm or 5 cm for the table, or at 6, 7, 8 or 10 cm for the shelf.

What art works best

  • Full body helps. Art that shows the whole character, from head to boots, with their weapon and gear gives the clearest result.
  • Front or three-quarter views work best. Extreme angles and tightly cropped action shots hide parts of the costume.
  • No finished art? A quick sketch or a screenshot from a character builder works. Add species, class, armour, weapon and colours in the instructions box.

What size are D&D miniatures?

Most D&D tables play on a battle map with a 1-inch square grid. In the official rules, each square represents 5 feet, and a Small or Medium creature, which covers most player characters, takes up one square; a Large creature takes up a block of 2 by 2 squares (D&D Free Rules).

That is what the MYTHUMI Tabletop Mini is made for: 4 cm (1.5 in) on its longest side, measured for a standing hero from the bottom of the base to its highest point, and made to fit a standard 1-inch battle grid.

28 mm or 32 mm?

Miniature makers often describe their figures as "28 mm" or "32 mm" scale, but they don't all measure the same way: some measure from the feet to the eyes rather than to the top of the head, so two figures sold at the same scale can differ in height (Wikipedia). That is why we give a real measurement instead of a scale name: 4 cm (1.5 in) on its longest side, which for a standing hero runs from the bottom of the base to its highest point, not to its eyes.

All six sizes

  • Tabletop Mini, 4 cm (1.5 in): made for play on a 1-inch grid. US$39.99

Two characters? Choose Duo and both are made side by side on one shared round base, in the same six sizes (measured on the larger figure's longest side), from US$69.99 (4 cm) to US$339.99 (10 cm).

Full colour, no painting needed

Every MYTHUMI miniature is a full-colour 3D print in resin: the colour is part of the print itself, so chainmail, runes and braids arrive in colour, ready for your next session, with no priming or painting. Our miniatures are not hand-painted, and the hand-painted finish we offer on some figurines isn't available for miniatures.

The whole party, in one style

A full party of custom miniatures on matching round bases.

Because every miniature starts from the same six poses and the same full-colour print, a whole party made from different players' art still looks like it belongs together. Want a starting look? Our tabletop miniature templates include an adventurer made from your own photo, an armoured hero, a creature from your sketch or idea, a neon street runner and a retro horror villain.

Bosses, monsters and encounters

Need something for the party to fight? Our ready-made heroes and monsters, from a treasure-chest mimic to a swamp hydra, come in the same six sizes with no art needed. For a whole scene, each eight-piece encounter set gives you a matched group: the Dragon's Hoard set, for example, includes an adult red dragon, two young red dragons, four dragonkin and a treasure hoard.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my battle grid?

Yes. The 4 cm (1.5 in) Tabletop Mini is made for the table and fits a standard 1-inch battle grid. The 5 cm Adventurer Mini is a bigger tabletop hero, and the 6, 7, 8 and 10 cm sizes are display pieces.

Is it a physical miniature or an STL file?

Every MYTHUMI miniature is a physical piece, printed and shipped to you. The 3D preview is there to help you check the design before you order; we don't sell downloadable files.

Can I see it before I pay?

Yes. Your 3D preview is free and usually ready in under 100 seconds, and nothing is charged until you add your miniature to the cart. Previews are AI-generated and approximate, and the finished print can differ a little in colour and fine detail.

How long does it take?

Every miniature is made to order and takes about 7 to 10 business days to make. Standard shipping then takes about 5 to 12 business days to the United States and 10 to 25 business days to Canada or the European Union; Express takes 3 to 7 business days. Standard shipping is free on orders of US$99 or more. See our shipping policy.

Can I use any character art?

Please only upload art you have the right to use, such as your own drawings, or art whose artist has given you permission. Our Terms of service have the details.
